B-Tox injections have been an established procedure in aesthetic medicine for years. With RelFydess, Galderma has launched a new product on the market that has already been tested in selected practices before its official launch - including our specialist practice for sonography-guided aesthetic medicine. In this article, we explain the scientific background to RelFydess, our own experiences and its potential significance for aesthetic medicine.
What is RelFydess?
RelFydess is an innovative botulinum toxin A preparation from Galderma that is used for temporary muscle relaxation in aesthetic and medical applications. It is based on a highly purified form of botulinum toxin type A and has been specially developed for precise dosage and a long-lasting effect. The underlying technology optimises the stability of the active ingredient so that it delivers particularly consistent and reliable results.
Scientific foundations
Botulinum toxin type A works by blocking the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine at the neuromuscular end plate. This results in temporary muscle relaxation, which can be used to smooth mimic wrinkles or treat functional complaints such as bruxism or hyperhidrosis.
RelFydess differs from other B-Tox preparations in that
- Optimised molecular purity to minimise the risk of immunogenic reactions.
- Improved diffusion properties, enabling more precise application.
- Long-lasting effectiveness that has been investigated in clinical studies.
Our clinical experience with RelFydess
As one of the few specialist practices in Germany, we had the opportunity to test RelFydess on 20 patients before the official market launch. Various indications were treated, including
- Frown lines (glabellar lines)
- Crow's feet
- Forehead wrinkles
- Bruxism (teeth grinding, masseter muscle injection)
- (Paving stone chin and corner of the mouth injection (mentalis and DAO muscle)
Our experience shows that RelFydess offers a rapid effect with particularly natural muscle relaxation. Patients reported pleasant, not overly rigid facial expressions, while the desired reduction in wrinkles was effectively maintained.
RelFydess as an addition to our portfolio
Due to the convincing test results, we have included RelFydess directly in our range of treatments. It is offered as an alternative to previous B-Tox preparations after individual consultation. However, all previous products will remain available, as different preparations are suitable for different patient groups.
Conclusion: Promising progress in aesthetics
RelFydess represents an interesting further development in the field of B-tox therapies. The optimised purity, more precise diffusion and extended duration of action could be beneficial for many patients. Our practice offers RelFydess as an individualised therapy option and adapts the treatment specifically to the respective needs.
