The treatment of scars requires an individual approach, as every scar is different and therefore requires a customised treatment protocol. A detailed clinical examination and consultation is therefore essential to determine the type of scar and recommend the best possible treatment method.
The treatment protocol can vary depending on the type of scar and often requires several sessions to achieve the desired result. The use of medical needling in combination with PRF injection can help with collagen regeneration, pigment and relief homogenisation of the scar tissue and skin regeneration. Another option is scar subcision, in which a cannula is used to loosen the fibrotic (hardened) tissue underneath the scar in order to eliminate the retraction and thus the tissue irregularity.
A combination therapy consisting of scar subcision, insertion of skin booster/hyaluron/collagen stimulator and, if necessary, PRF injection is particularly effective for atrophic acne scars.
It is important to note that the treatment of scars is a process that requires time and patience. Close and trusting co-operation between patient and practitioner is crucial to achieve the best possible results.
Scar treatment, like any other medical procedure, can be associated with side effects. Possible side effects include swelling, redness, pain or bruising. However, these are usually only temporary and can be treated conservatively and without complications.
A professional consultation and examination before treatment can help to minimise possible side effects. However, it is important to note that each person can react individually to scar treatment and it is therefore important to prepare for possible side effects and react appropriately if necessary.
When does scar treatment make sense?
Over time, scars can become wider, harder and more irregular, especially with mechanical overload. Depending on the stage of wound healing, scars can also show hyper- or hypopigmentation, which means that they are darker or lighter than the surrounding skin. These irregularities can be particularly problematic in certain areas of the body, such as the abdominal area, as weight gain and hardening in the deeper parts of the scar can cause retraction and thus irregularities in the soft tissue of the skin.
Atrophic scars can also be a cosmetic problem, for example in the case of severe acne on the face, shoulders and back. Atrophic scars occur when collagen, which is responsible for the elasticity of the skin, is not produced sufficiently and the scar tissue is therefore thinner and softer than the surrounding skin. This often leads to a depression of the scar and an irregular appearance.
In our practice, we offer various scar treatment options to improve the appearance of scars. These include, for example, scar correction using the dermabrasion technique, in which the scar tissue is abraded by removing the upper layer of skin, resulting in a smoother skin texture. Treatment with laser or cryotherapy can also help to reduce scars. Individual counselling and a treatment plan tailored to the needs of the person concerned are essential.
Safe and precise treatments
One option is medical needling in combination with PRF injections. Here, the skin is treated with fine needles to stimulate collagen production and achieve pigment and relief homogenisation of the scar tissue. The regeneration of the skin is supported by growth factors, cytokines and stem cells from your own blood.
In scar subcision, the fibrotic (hardened) tissue underneath the scar is loosened with a cannula. As a result, retractions and tissue irregularities disappear. The treatment is performed under local anaesthetic.
In the case of overgrowing scars (kelloids) and excessive scarring (hypertrophic scars), an injection of crystal cortisone and compression therapy with silicone plasters can help.
We offer a combination therapy for atrophic acne scars. Here, scar subcision is combined with the injection of skin boosters, hyaluronic acid and collagen stimulators. PRF injections can also be carried out as an option. Our armamentarium for scar treatment also includes various energy-based devices such as lasers and radiofrequency needling.
We will be happy to advise you in detail on the various treatment options and work with you to find the best treatment option for your individual situation.
