An established indication for the use of the drug B-tox is the treatment of chronic migraine, which has been authorised in Germany since 2011. This treatment involves treating various points in the head, neck and shoulder muscles. Relaxation at a muscular level and other anti-inflammatory processes can often alleviate symptoms and reduce further migraine attacks. This is exclusively a prophylactic treatment aimed at reducing the frequency and intensity of attacks. The treatment should be repeated every three to four months. After two years, an attempt can be made to carry out the treatments at longer intervals.

B-tox treatment for jaw pain and teeth grinding

Almost one in five people suffer from regular teeth grinding, also known as bruxism. This condition mainly occurs during sleep or in stressful situations and can have serious consequences for the jaw and teeth if left untreated. A dentist or CMD specialist should always be consulted first in order to make a custom-fit bite splint if necessary. However, if this is difficult to integrate into everyday life or does not sufficiently alleviate the symptoms, treatment with B-tox can help. B-tox treatment has also been used to treat jaw muscle tension for a number of years. B-tox is injected into the chewing muscle to reduce tension and teeth grinding. The effect lasts for at least 12 weeks, whereby the amount injected and the condition of the respective muscle are decisive for the duration of the effect. In severe cases and with higher injection quantities, the effect can last between 6 and 12 months. An additional effect of this treatment is that the face can be narrowed as a result of the injection. This treatment can therefore not only help to relieve jaw pain and teeth grinding, but also improve the aesthetic appearance.
